    Here's what people have said:

Mel Owen: Melodrama

  • 'One to watch’ (The Scotsman) and ‘Obviously multi-talented’ (Ed Fringe Review), Mel Owen returns to Exeter Comedy Festival with her new show, Melodrama.

As turning 30 looms, Mel did not expect to revert to her teenage ways. Dating somebody just because he drives a van (not in a murdery way), turning to her mum for advice that she will wholly ignore then cry when it all goes wrong? How very Melodramatic

    (Mel-O-dramatic…like Mel Owen…never mind).

Mel has toured as support for comedy stars Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Elis James and Emmanuel Sonubi, as well as having performed sell-out shows in Machynlleth, Aberystwyth, Bristol and Edinburgh. In May 2024 Mel performed at the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival in Los Angeles.

Mel is a co-presenter of Wales’ premier politics podcast, For Wales See Wales. She also presents on BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio Wales and is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4 and Radio 2. She has writing credits on Channel 4, BBC Three, Radio Wales and recently Netflix.

McClaine Beirne: What a Year!

  • McClaine Beirne brings his new show “What a Year!” to Exeter. What do you get when this sit-down comedian has the craziest year of his life? The answer is a heap of comedic ammo that delivers thrilling and hilarious stories. McClaine has performed on Rosie Jones’ Disability Comedy Extravaganza on Dave TV. After his performance Rosie Jones said that he is “Bloody Hilarious”. That same year his first show “Wheelie Funny” won the Disability Representation at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023 along with a ★★★★ 4 star review. He was also a comedic writer for BBC Wales and was Shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Awards 2022. Definitely not one to miss.

Ed Tripp: All the Rage

  • (former Bard of Exeter) returns to Exeter Comedy festival with ‘All the Rage’ – a fast-paced, music-infused, comedy poetry show.

Part cabaret, part confessional, Ed will blend unsettling new poems with “remixed” musical fan favourites.

He may even try some crowd work too. God help us.

“Tripp doesn’t so much straddle or have one foot in the camps of comedy and storytelling but instead finds perfect harmony between them – each element of humour accentuating the spoken word, each poetic structure lifting stories to new heights.

Tripp’s poetic moments are a treat, cohesive and engaging, and for newcomers, is the finest introduction to the marvels of spoken word”

Amy Mason: Brand New Show (work in progress)

  • Amy Mason: Brand New Show (work in progress)

Very outing of a new show that might be about the fact that my guinea pigs are gay and how that’s a weird way to teach your kids the facts of life – or maybe, one might argue, the best way? It also might instead be about that bit in the Wizard of Oz when she opens the door and everything goes technicolour. Maybe that’s how the guinea pigs felt when the fell in love? Anyway, can you help me make it a show please?

As heard on Radio 1, Radio 6 and Radio 4. One of the best reviewed shows of Edinburgh Fringe – British Comedy Guide.

Sam Nicoresti: Baby Doomer

  • Winner of Best Show at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2025

A glistening diamond hour of stand-up from “delusional trans comedian” Sam Nicoresti about love, insanity, and the hunt for the perfect skirt suit. Following a critical maelstrom of success at the Edinburgh Fringe, and three weeks of sold-out performances at London’s Soho Theatre, Sam finally brings an extended and revamped version of her breakout hit show Baby Doomer to the great unwashed (i.e. goes on tour).

From getting stuck in a dress in a TK Maxx to finding love between the standing stones of Cornwall, through sperm banks, Lord of the Rings figurines, and queer cat names, Sam Nicoresti examines life's most vital question: can you ever hope to find the perfect skirt suit?

Baby Doomer is the follow-up to the acclaimed Wokeflake. “One of the definitive documents of the trans experience in stand-up.” Chortle.

Paul Foot: The Future [WIP]

  • Hello and OMG. Everything’s wrong in the world. When did optimism end?

Remember years ago when people were excited for the future, with predictions of

people flying around on jet packs, friendly robots that wheeled themselves round the

kitchen making tea, and solar powered bidets? Well, we don’t have fun visions for

the future like that anymore, do we?

In this show, which, much like human civilisation, is a Work-in-Progress, Paul tries to

find a way forward for humanity that isn’t environmental collapse, war and pointless

arguments. His medium is stand-up comedy, his allotted time is 58 minutes to one

hour, his message is hope (hopefully).

Daniel Kitson – Work In Progress.

  • Daniel Kitson is working on a new show.
He’s hoping, once again, to make something better than before: Really funny, maybe a bit
sad, intermittently thought provoking, slightly audacious and, ideally, completely
    unfathomable.
He started properly thinking about it in the middle of January and it needs to be finished by
August. So. That should give you a sense of how far through the process, these particular
shows are likely to be – a lot of marble and not much sculpture, essentially.
On the upside, they’ve been priced accordingly and will last no more than 90 minutes.
